Parlotones lose voice

CRESTA – Top local rock band cancels all tours indefinitely.

The Parlotones, one of South Africa’s most successful rock bands, have cancelled all performances and promotions indefinitely, due to damage to lead singer Kahn Morbee’s vocal cords.

The group was scheduled to perform at The Barnyard Theatre Cresta on 6 August.

Kahn Morbee (36), who is lead singer for the multiple-award-winning rock band recently announced the band’s decision to relocate (see previous story) to Los Angeles, United States of America, in favour of staying in Johannesburg.

He lives in Ferndale, and drummer Neil Pauw lives in in Sundowner.

According to a media statement from the group,”The band has been forced to postpone the remainder of their ‘Unplugged Winter Tour’ due to vocal cord damage lead singer Kahn Morbee has experienced recently. He will be undergoing surgery to repair the current issues with his vocal cords and new tour dates will be announced once surgery in the coming days has taken place and rehabilitation has commenced. The band would like to apologise to all the fans for the cancellations and hope to be back on stage in the foreseeable future.”

Spokesperson for The Barnyard Theatre Cresta Danny de Wet would only say, “can everyone please keep him [Kahn Morbee] in your prayers.”
