Local learner has dreams of competing at the Olympics
Michael McGowan to climb in African trials in bid to represent South Africa.

Northcliff High School learner Michael McGowan has been selected to compete for a place on the Olympic team as a speed climber.
The South African National Climbing Federation has announced the athletes who will compete in the African Continental Olympic qualifiers to be held in December.
Headmaster Walter Essex-Clarke said, “Congratulations to Michael who has been selected to represent South Africa to compete for a place in the Olympics. This an outstanding achievement and we wish you all the best for the Olympic qualifiers.”
