Kenya dozen in town

ROOSEVELT PARK – Bowlers from Kenya spend a day at Roosevelt Park Bowling Club.

A group of Kenyan bowlers called the Baker’s Dozen visited Roosevelt Park Bowling Club for a day of fun and good memories.

The group was made up of six men and six women of Muthaiga Country Club in Nairobi, as well as South African bowling legend Gerry Baker.

Among the team were six players who have represented Kenya. They were on a tour that included playing against five bowls clubs in Gauteng before going on a holiday together in Cape Town.

The tourists were given a warm welcome and the tournament got going with games of three trips and two pairs against an enthusiastic Roosevelt Park side on a green that was really superb according to the players.

Baker’s Dozen team leader, Eric Langton spoke highly of the green, saying it was fantastic and had a good speed resulting in a great game.

Visiting players said they felt privileged to come to SA to play. Oli Fowler commented on the great spirit and said it had been a great game on a green that played beautifully.

The Roosevelt Park team agreed, and this they added was due to the skill and hard work of the greenkeeper Charles Joyce and his team.
