Him soo do in Roosevelt Park

ROOSEVELT PARK – Local dojang brings the Korean martial art, him soo do, to the area.

The Korean martial art, him soo do, is now being taught at Roosevelt Park Recreation Centre.

This is a traditional style and teachings range from open-hand and kicking techniques, grappling, throws, locks, weapons, and a whole lot more. Children and adult classes are currently being held through the Him Soo Do Roosevelt Dojang

Sabonim (instructor) Shane Comley-White, is a fourth dan black belt instructor who has more than 20 years’ experience behind him.

His class has already held its first grading for the year. All students passed with flying ‘kicking’ colours and are already working hard for the second grading at the end of June.

Comley-White congratulated his students and said while some techniques were tricky and required a great deal of discipline and focus to follow through, each and every student performed with exceptional poise and dedication.

He also thanked the family members and friends who attended the grading to encourage their loved ones.

“It means a lot to have such love and support – of not only the students themselves but, their friends and families as well,” Comley-White said.

“Best of luck to all. Keep up the amazing hard work and commendable support for one another.”

The instructor encouraged anyone interested in getting fit and strong, and being part of a great circle of friends, to contact him or see the dojang’s website (www.himsoodo.com).
