Tenpin bowling at the Arnold Classic

NORTHCLIFF – Tenpin bowlers promote the sport during the Arnold Classic Africa.

Tenpin bowlers had a chance to show off their favourite sport during the 2019 Arnold Classic Africa.

Northcliff Bowl hosted a large tournament, inviting all of South Africa’s best to show the community that the game can be more than just a social sport, it can be very, very competitive.

“Tenpin bowling has joined the Arnold Classic sports expo to expose our sport,” said Kiley Cassel, president of Tenpin Bowling Association of South Africa. “This is not only a social game, but also a sport which you can play at league level, provincial level and national level.”

Cassel explained that the tournament on 18 May was held between South Africa’s best players, who represented their provinces in teams.

The quality of bowling was exceptional on the day, but while it was no less competitive than a national tournament in any sport, the tenpin bowling culture prevailed and opponents congratulated each other for every strike or good bowl.

“We also have our national team here today, who bowled the first round,” Cassel added.

Northcliff Bowl is no stranger to big tournaments. The venue also hosted to the Tenpin Bowling Inter-Provincials in late March, where Central Gauteng proved too good. The team finished first in the gold and silver categories and came second in the masters category.
