Football flavour wins R10 000

EMMARENTIA – Football Flavours have been crowned the champions of the Freedom Cup, winning themselves R10 000.

The weather was on the sunny side, the football field was ready for action and so were the soccer teams gearing up towards participating in the Freedom Cup which was recently hosted at Marks Park Sports Arena in Emmarentia.

The team that walked away with the trophy, bragging rights and a cool R10 000 cash prize was the team Football Flavour.

Robin Bennett, events coordinator and producer from Finesse Entertainment, said that the tournament went extremely well, despite the fact that they didn’t get the turnout the hoped for. “We didn’t get as many teams as we hoped but the tournament ran smoothly nonetheless and we are definitely looking forward to the next one.” On the bright side, they celebrated the amount of spectators they were able to host.

Apart from the soccer on display, the event also provided families a chance to have a great day in the sun. With lots of entertainment, food and competitions there was never a dull moment at the tournament. The lucky winner of one of the competitions, a raffle, was Tashlyn Louis. She, like many others, definitely enjoyed their time at the Freedom Cup.
