It’s all systems go as eight SA universities get ready to compete in the inaugural Varsity Basketball tournament as part of Varsity Sports.
The tournament will have eight of the best university basketball teams battling it out for top honours and bragging rights.
It will be hosted at Wits’ multi-sports hall and the first four rounds will take place between 5 and 7 October and the last three and knockout rounds will take place from 12 to 14 October.

Wits University and the University of Johannesburg will be competing in the tournament and it will be interesting to see which university goes the furthest.
Basketball lovers will be treated to a Johannesburg derby on 7 October as Wits and UJ will take each other on at 2pm.
Prior to this, UJ will open their tournament on 5 October against Nelson Mandela University while Wits take aim at the University of Cape Town at 7.30pm.
