Varsity Football got off to an amazing start for the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Wits University as they won their first matches of the season on 26 July.
UJ hosted the University of Limpopo and won 7–1 while Wits played away at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and won 3–2.
The Limpopo side was spared no remorse by UJ in their return to the competition.
UJ opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a goal from Tebogo Mnyandu. Four minutes later the boys in orange doubled their lead with a Mokete Makgaila strike.
At half-time, UJ led 3–0 and the beginning of the second half brought a glimmer of hope for the visitors when Freddy Matheba scored within three minutes to make the score 3–1.
But UJ went on the attack again and scored their fourth in the 50th minute, the fifth in the 58th minute, number six came in the 70th and the rout was completed in the 87th.
After all the hard work on the field, the rewards for the day stay at the home ground as the UJ players claim them || S/O to all our sponsors ????????✊… #iyachesa #varsityfootball #varsitysport #samsung #fnb #debonairspizza #ujalltheway???????????? #ujsport pic.twitter.com/6C0yxWIzsZ
