Wits university hosts basketball, rugby and volleyball tournaments

Wits University will be hosting its counterparts from around the country as they host three sports events during the USSA winter games.

University Sports South Africa (USSA) is currently hosting the 2018 edition of its winter games. The University of the Witwatersrand is ecstatic as it has been given the opportunity to host all universities in the country competing in basketball, rugby and volleyball. The winter games give universities an opportunity to competitively engage with each other in multiple sports.

The first day of the competition had the Maties of Stellenbosch University take on Vaal University of Technology (VUT). VUT started slow but eventually got into the game to win it 72 – 49. The University of Johannesburg (UJ) beat North-West University 66 – 34, while Wits destroyed the University of Zululand 104 – 40.

The rugby tournament ended day one on a high as a local rivalry resumed. Wits University got to face the University of Johannesburg, which they won 26 – 21.
