Karate centre open at Berario Recreation Centre

BERARIO – Palm Court Karate Centre opens a new branch at Berario Recreation Centre.

The Berario Karate Centre is now open, offering tuition to all levels of students ranging from beginner to advanced.

It is located in the Berario Recreation Centre where you will find the newest branch of Palm Court Karate.

The first karate centre was established in 1992 by Mario Sequeira. It is a traditional dojo designed for the practice of karate-do.

The centre teaches a traditional style of karate-do, known as goju-ryu which means ‘hard and gentle school’. They offer the best in facilities, equipment and the highest standard of tuition of traditional karate-do, explained Sequeira.

He is a 5th dan-graded black belt who has been doing karate since 1979. “The dojo prides itself on its traditional roots and although the accolades have always been welcome, the dojo’s only goal is to teach authentic karate-do and in doing so produce outstanding future leaders,” said Sequeira.

Karate teaches its students mental focus, discipline, self-control, respect and builds confidence, he said. “Teaching youngsters is my job. We build their confidence. We teach traditional karate, which is like a subject.”

The Berario Karate Centre now offers classes every Friday afternoon at 4pm to 4.45pm and 5pm to 6pm.
