FAIRLAND – Thousands of runners braved the icy conditions on the morning of 2 June to take part in the 2018 MTN Half Marathon.

Thousands of runners braved the icy conditions on the morning of 2 June to take part in the 2018 MTN Half Marathon.
As part of MTN’s 21 Days of Y’ello Care, almost 8 500 runners took to the streets of Johannesburg to run 5km, 10km or 21km to raise money for the chosen beneficiaries.

Individual runners and runners from clubs across the country ran through the suburbs of Constantia Kloof, Strubens Valley, Fairland and Northcliff.
Some roads in the area were blocked for a few hours, but arrangements were made to accommodate motorists.
All proceeds raised are to be used for further investment in computer literacy in education.

According to a press statement, the key beneficiary chosen by MTN is the Sizwile Special School for the Deaf, located in Dobsonvillle, Soweto, where MTN will donate a multimedia centre.
In addition to this, MTN will hand over a multimedia centre and also refurbish the Afrika Tikkun Youth Centre in Diepsloot, north of Johannesburg.
