NHS takes another good swing at fundraising
RANDPARK – Northcliff High School garners community support for its annual golf day.
Northcliff High School’s parent’s association once again put their heads together for the annual fundraising golf day at Randpark golf course.
Close to 80 players turned up on 12 April for the four-ball game in support of the school. Many were old boys, parents and friends of parents.
Susan Fletcher, who organised the golf day, said it has been growing each year. The money raised goes towards the school, into a fund, and the school decides what they need it for, she explained.
This has helped the swimming pool upgrade last year and could help complete the new indoor cricket centre.
Chairperson of the association, Louise van Zyl, said the day appeals to the old boys and the community that supports the school.
“We have moved it to Randpark golf course so that it is brought back to the community.”
The goal, she said, is more about giving the school exposure and garnering more support than it is about making a profit.
Indeed, there was lots of fun to be had. Players could opt to tee off with a marshmallow at one hole and tried to see who could hit it the farthest.
At another hole, players could throw a dart at a dartboard, and depending on the number it hit, they would have to tee off with a certain club assigned to that number, even if it was a putter.
