Victory for Sentinel!

NORTHCLIFF – The top athletes will now take place in the inter-high which Northcliff High School has won for the past 20 years.

It was a practice run for Northcliff High School at their annual inter-house athletics meeting for this year’s big inter-high competition.

The school’s inter-house took place on 28 July and athletes who were once part of the same team were divided up into their respective houses – Sentinel, Cairn, Dragoon and Pinnacle – to compete against each other and see who’s best.

Emmanuel Tshituka runs in first place during a relay race, making it look so easy.

Northcliff High School teacher Paul Botha runs with the baton to hand it over to one of his running partners.

This year, Sentinel took first place with 725 points with Cairn hot on their heels with 650 points. Dragoon took third place with 612 points and Pinnacle (589) was in fourth place.

Jade Kimberley, Jared Fuchs, Jason Ford and Tao Blignaut, the top four best athletes in Sentinel accepted the trophy on behalf of their fellow athletes.

Jade Kimberley passes the relay baton to Fallon Pretorius.

Tyra Bougaard rushes off after receiving the relay baton from her running partner.

Determining the school’s junior victrix ludorum and senior victor ludorum proved to be a task with two athletes in each category doing equally as well as the other.

Results:

  • Junior victrix ludorum: Amy Pace and Precious Emekpo
  • Junior victor ludorum: Chris Tshimpaka
  • Senior victrix ludorum: Hannah Iyukes
  • Senior victor ludorum: Emmanuel Tshituka and Christopher Conroy

The top athletes will go on to compete in the inter-high athletics which Northcliff has won for the past 20 years. The competition will take place on 23 August, however, the venue has not yet been confirmed.
