SA team wins in tenpin bowling test match

NORTHCLIFF – South African tenpin bowling team wins in a test match against Ethiopia.

The South African development tenpin bowling team won a test match against the touring Ethiopian team played at Northcliff Bowling situated on Beyers Naude Drive.
This hotly-anticipated match pitted a team of 10 of Ethiopia’s best bowlers against the South African team.
Vaughn Williams, president of The Tenpin Bowling Association South Africa said this tour was a way to launch the newly-formed African Zone which is also called World Bowling Africa.
“South Africa has previously belonged to the European Zone, but were unable to participate in many of the tournaments due to the vast travellingtime and expensive flight costs,” he said.
On the day of the match, South Africa won the men’s singles, mixed trios and team events, while the Ethiopians clinched the ladies singles and Baker Format.
Williams expressed that despite the medal tally, friendships were formed and mutual respect was garnered for the opponents.
South Africa now awaits tenpin bowling tours from Egypt, Nigeria, Tunisia, Libya, Kenya and Mauritius.
