TeamSA medal-count
Hopefully the remaining athletes from TeamSA will strive forward and do us proud.
The Rio Olympics is steadily progressing and we tally the number of medals given out, so far.
When TeamSA left for Rio, the Minister of Sports, Fikile Mbalula and Sascoc dignitaries were hoping our athletes would return with ten medals. In 2012, TeamSA only received six medals at the London Olympics and were most certainly at the bottom of the log.
Currently, the USA is leading with 11 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze, followed by China with a total medal count of 23. Unfortunately, South Africa has only managed to bag two silvers – both for swimming.
Banyana Banyana have already packed their bags and are en route home, after failing to pass the qualifying stages.
Hopefully the remaining athletes from TeamSA will strive forward and do us proud.
