South Africa’s Sevens rugby team, the Blitzbokke, crushed Japan in the bronze medal match at the Rio 2016 Olympics, earning a bronze medal for their country.
They beat Japan 54–14 on 11 August, after Great Britain beat them through a controversial try in the semi-final 7–5, the Blitzbokke’s only glitch in what would have been a near-perfect Rio campaign.
Fiji dominated against Great Britain in the final, winning 43–7 to take gold.
