Bowlers ascend at Easter Tournament

ROOSEVELT – Roosevelt Park Bowls hosts their annual Easter tournament to eager bowlers.

Bowlers descended onto the greens of Roosevelt Park Bowls Club for the club’s annual Easter Tournament, which always sees a great turnout. This time around the stakes were high and players came with the fiery need to walk away as the winning team.

The tournament which spanned three days, commenced on 28 March where the winning team walked away with R16 000. The tournament was made even more eventful with the great weather that persisted over the weekend. Club president, David Putter said that the tournament began on 26 March and is always hugely supported and successful. “All the bowlers who participate have a great time,” said Putter.

Putter also added that Roosevelt Park Bowls invited members from various clubs to compete for the grand prize. “Everyone played their best today,” said Putter. The club used both its pitches for the event and they were filled with vibrant players all supporting each other. The tournament had teams of four play against each other. Teams who made it to the top eight were eligible to compete for the plate, with vouchers and a cash prize up for grabs.

Putter emphatically thanked all the hands that went into making the tournament a great success. He praised one of the bowlers of the club for donating generously towards the event. He also thanked the club’s vice president, Pam Landau for all the hard work she put into the organisation of the event.
