A bowl to victory

ROOSEVELT PARK – The JBA Finals brought out the need for the win at Roosevelt Park Bowling Club.

The JBA Mixed Pairs Semi-Finals and Finals were held at Roosevelt Park Bowls on 21 February. The winners, Lewis Klopper and Dawn Palmer from Belgravia Bowling Club saw some tough competition from Killarney Bowls Club contenders, Hilton Cohen and Desiré Clayden.

The beautiful day brought along with it a very healthy amount of competitive energy. The semi-finals had two sets of teams play against each other at the same time. The clubs that made it to the semi-finals were Belgravia against Killarney and another set of Belgravia players against the Bedfordview bowlers.

The palpable energy to win surged through the manicured greens which silenced the crowd as they watched each bowl intently. President of Roosevelt Park Bowls, David Roy Potter said the turnout for the tournament was great and he was also grateful that the weather did not disappoint.”The day brought with it some great bowls which helped guide every bowl the bowlers made,” said Potter.

JBA President, Jac de Villiers, thanked all those who made the day the great success it was. Not only did he congratulate the deserving winners, he also thanked the hosting club that ensured nothing was left to chance when it came to hospitality and also made sure each competitor had what they need to do their level best.

Winners Lewis Klopper and Dawn Palmer were very excited that they managed to walk away with the winning trophy as the win is never guaranteed and they faced some great competition.
