ROOSEVELT PARK – Roosevelt Park Bowling Club hosts their annual men's 2-4-2 bowling event.

Roosevelt Park Bowling Club hosted its annual men’s 2-4-2 bowling event on 6 December. The day’s glorious weather brought with it a thirst for the win.

The event attracted bowlers from all over this beautiful province of ours and saw 24 teams bowl against each other for the grand prize.

The club, which has been running for quite some time now, prides itself on its open door policy when it comes new recruits. The club has three dedicated coaches who oblige themselves to catering to the novice bowlers. Grant Dreyer, one of the coaches at the club advocates this is not an old man’s sport.

“This is such an addictive sport, that it’s not just for the old timers, everyone and anyone can join in,” said Dreyer.

The event spanned two days and was a major success and brought out both the competitive spirit along with a good measure of camaraderie among the players.

Also playing in the event were brothers Callum (14) and Nathan Dinning (12) who were labelled as some fierce competition. The two started bowling after their grandparents came for an open day held at the club. They said that from that day they each felt the urge to take up the sport.

“I was interested in the game and people’s enjoyment of it,” said Callum.

Nathan said that the event was great and that he played his best.

“It’s been a fair and fun tournament, I would love to win but if I don’t – it won’t be a big deal,” said Nathan.

The big winners of the day were:

First Prize: Dylan Stafford and Darryl Stafford

Second Prize: Willy Bright and Allan van Dyk

Third Prize: Malcolm Ferraris and Keith Beattie.
