GALLERY: SA women’s hockey team crushes Nigeria

MALANSHOF – SA women’s hockey team shows Nigeria who is boss at the turf.

The Greenfields African Hockey Championships saw South African women’s team take on Nigeria on 24 October at the Randburg Hockey arena.

The South African players showed great force and skill on their turf.

They were quick and efficient and they kept things low to the ground.

Nigeria chose a different tactic by using high passes which are often difficult to defend.

South Africa scored goals within the first few minutes of the match, with some impressive push backs in the third chaka.

The game ended with a clear victory for South Africa with 15–0.

South African women’s hockey team head coach said, “It’s a positive start, it is important to begin with a win.” He added that their objective is to control the game and have clinical play within the circle.

“I think Ghana is going to be our biggest competition as it has always been a tough rivalry.”

SA men won 30–0 against Botswana.
