Montjane and Maripa off to the Pensacola and Cajun Opens

WESTDENE – Local talents, Kgothatso Montjane and Evans Maripa are off to make their mark in the Pensacola and Cajun Opens.

South Africa’s top women’s wheelchair tennis star, Kgothatso Montjane, and the country’s number one men’s player, Evans Maripa, are off to the United States to take part in the Pensacola and Cajun Opens, both International Tennis Federation events.

Over 80 of the world’s top wheelchair tennis players from 16 nations will compete in the Pensacola Open from 18 to 22 March and in Baton Rouge from 25 to 29 March.

“I am looking forward to both tournaments and I have trained well enough to perform well,” said Montjane, adding that both tournaments are very important, as they play a significant role in preparation for next month’s tournaments.”

Montjane and Maripa said they were determined to perform well this year and gain more top-flight experience before returning home to prepare for the Airports Company South Africa Gauteng Open, which takes place from 8 to 12 April, and the Airports Company South Africa SA Open, which runs from 14 to 18 April.
