Cradle Cycle Festival is back

MAROPENG — Whether you are just looking for some fun activities during the holidays or an avid rider, the cycle festival is for everyone.

Mark your calendar for the Cradle Cycle Festival taking place on 11 and 12 April at Maropeng.

Whether you are an avid cyclist or just looking to do something different during the Easter holidays, the 75 or 45km ride is arguably the best way to challenge yourself.

Festival organiser Rob Jackson from the Leverage Corporation said the 75km ride will be on the first day, departing at 7am, and the 45km ride will be on the second day .

“It is an ideal ride for those leisure riders who are looking for a shorter stage practice ride and this will start at 8am on Sunday,” Jackson added.

This festival is also an ideal family event, with a kiddies area included for the younger members. Food stands will be put up on the day, including several displays from local business owners. Hoteliers in and around the area are encouraged to come through to offer cycling trails and benefits to all the enthusiastic riders on the day.

“We encourage to round up their friends and families, bring a picnic blanket and just enjoy the fun. Entry is free for families.

Lezelle Williams from Leverage Corporation said this year’s course would be more exciting for the old and new riders.

“We are expecting more riders this year. We had 750 people with us in 2014 and we are looking at more than 800 riders this year. We have changed the routes and we have a new course designer.”

The distance may be the same but the routes would be around Magaliesburg and far out around the Cradle.

Details for interested riders.
