Lucas Sithole and Kgothatso Montjane ready for NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters

WESTDENE – Lucas Sithole and Kgothatso Montjane are off to the season-ending NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters from 26 until 30 November.

Lucas Sithole and Kgothatso Montjane are off to the season ending NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters from 26 to 30 November at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London.

The tournament will see the world’s top singles players competing for the most coveted title and trophy.

Montjane said she is ready, relaxed and looking forward to the event. She reached the quarter-finals in her last tournament, the Open de la Baie Somme, in France this October.

“I have prepared well mentally and physically, and I hope to have a good tournament. It is always tough to play the best in the world but that is what grows your game,” she said.

“I am thankful for our sponsor Airports Company South Africa for enabling us to use our opportunities to compete internationally.”

South Africa’s Number One in the quads division, Sithole, said he is determined to regain his World Number Two ranking after Andy Lapthorne (Great Britain) moved into this spot, after winning the US Open quad’s singles title in September.

“I am looking forward to the tournament as a warm-up to the NEC Masters. It is always an honour to qualify and compete at the top tournaments,” Sithole said.

“I love the game and will be giving it my best to possibly gain back the World Number Two spot,” he added.

Wheelchair Tennis South Africa’s director and coach Holger Losch wished the two the best of luck.

“KG and Lucas are well-rested and determined to do well at the upcoming NEC Masters. They are extremely talented athletes who love playing the game,” he said.
