LETTER: Resident thanks City Power for prioritising and solving their electrical issues

FAIRLAND – City Power does right by residents.

Fairland resident Frances Viljoen writes:

We live in a complex in Wilson Street, Fairland. We are three complexes that have one electricity station.

On Friday 5 October at about 10.30am we realised that the power was out.

We first thought that it was a general outage but could not find anything with City Power on any outage in our area. My husband logged a call with City Power at about 12.30pm.

An hour later City Power people arrived to come and have a look as they also saw that there was no outage in our area.

They found that the electricity room was locked but when they opened the lock (a City power lock), the cables in the room were stolen.

Somebody must have had a key for the lock as the lock was not broken.

A person from the one complex was leaving just before the power went off and saw a ‘City Power’ bakkie outside with people in overalls.

The reason I am writing this letter is to thank the real City Power people who came back at 10.45pm that evening and worked through the night to have our power restored by the next morning.

One always hears about the days and days people have to wait when cables have been stolen.
