A friend of nature writes about an Alberts Farm experience:
While I was visiting a friend in Greymont, she invited me to walk in Alberts Farm.
The beauty of the area became immediately uplifting with its large vistas of open grassland.
It has an amazing view of Johannesburg city with both towers visible. We walked past a small dam with various waterfowl and on to a freshwater spring.
It was a short climb to the top of a rocky outcrop with even better views of this unique conservation area. Wow, I found it hard to believe the natural state of this large area in the city.
The afternoon walk with my friend’s dogs brought a satisfaction I never expected. I was asked to assist with the removal of some blackjack weeds and picking up litter as we walked to see some geese at the dam.
I felt quite euphoric – having done this little bit – like I now owned my bit of all this beauty.
