I felt I had to congratulate Mayor Herman Mashaba for his refusal to fund expensive South African Local Government Association (Salga) ‘conferences’.
One by one, the now Democratic Alliance-led councils are unearthing shocking evidence of unnecessary spending, profligacy and outright theft through the African National Congress’ (ANC’s) pocket-lining policies and jobs-for-pals programmes.
As taxpayers, we are sick of it!
Salga must be self-sufficient or simply do its conferencing online without all the lavish travel and banqueting expenditure.
Times are tough. ANC politicians have to learn to tighten their belts and put the people of South Africa first, for a change.
