I am writing in response to the article on your website titled Residents against proposed mosque in Northcliff, dated April 12.

A key point of objection was the increase in traffic volumes and congestion.

This is totally misplaced.

Peak traffic in the area coincides with the start and end times of Northcliff High School.

School starts at 7.40am every morning.

The ending times are 2.25pm on Monday and Tuesday, 1.15pm on Wednesday, 2.15pm on Thursday, and 1.45pm on Friday.

There is no overlap of prayer times with the school traffic peaks, with the possible exception of the Wednesday midday prayer.

The small number of congregants for this prayer would have no impact on the traffic at all.
