We were once oppressed, segregated and undermined.

Hate was planted on us but we rose to fight apartheid with our voices.

We gained respect and dignity when we conducted peaceful and fair elections in 1994.

We surprised the whole world when we promoted reconciliation instead of revenge.

Suddenly we selected a group of the world’s best comedians and we put them in parliament to solve our social problems.

They created the best comedy show ever seen, while people died of hunger, unemployment, and lack of infrastructure.

Believe it or not, after 22 years of democracy people still don’t have water, proper sanitation or shelters.

Those are basic human needs.

I wish those comedians in the parliament could stop joking the whole day and discuss and solve the problems we have in this country.

We chose them because we trusted them enough to represent the voiceless people.
