Life after matric

CRESTA – Siphatiswe offers advise to 201 matriculants

I would like to congratulate all the matriculants that are now stepping into the next phase of their careers.

For those going to university, you are bound to be filled with excitement. Of course, who wouldn’t be? For most, this is the first time you move away from home and start a new life with a little bit of independence. Just a little advice from an oldie who was once in your shoes – don’t get too involved in partying and forget your purpose.

Some often say Varsity is the place you can gain courage to experiment with all the things you know your parents will never dare to agree to, but I say you need balance.

Yes, this is the time for you to discover yourself and who you are, but don’t lose the values your parents instilled in you.

In today’s world looks don’t mean anything. If you are one of the “hot” ones this may be working for you now, but in a few years they won’t. You need a good education and good grades. So study hard and study smart for a better tomorrow.

Yes, take a break here and there to be with friends and family but remember all those that matter, are respected and worked hard to be where they are.
