Load shedding is back

Get ready for the darkest nights.

Load shedding…what more shall I say.

The dreaded power cuts are back and we are all going to have more candlelit dinners than we expected.

Following the “unexpected” collapse of a coal silo at Majuba Power Station in Mpumalanga, there will be rolling blackouts across the country.

And although Eskom says the load shedding schedules have been designed to best suit residents and reduce the demand on the grid, there is no way that sitting in the dark with no electricity best suits anyone.

From 6pm at night most people are only getting home and preparing dinner. Now with the lights out, people will be forced to buy takeaways which they cannot afford or eat sandwiches.

This doesn’t seem fair to me at all and I have a suspicion that we are being lied to about how this situation has escalated into such a disaster.

Like almost all the infrastructure in the city, I am sure nothing has been maintained for a very long time resulting in these blunders.

I think we are all being fed a bag of coal.

What do you think?
