I love all animals, big and small.
I was lucky enough to grow up in a house where one more animal was always welcome – hence we had chickens, ducks, hamsters, dogs and, at one stage, even a black pot belly pig named Otto.
My parents also taught me to be kind to all things great and small, so although the cuter cuddly animals are welcome to share my bed, I am not so keen on having close contact with creepy crawlies. But I do respect them and admire them from afar. Having said that there is one exception, I love praying mantises, they are so fascinating and I don’t mind touching them.
I can sit for hours watching National Geographic and Animal Planet. Watching how wild animals act in their natural habitat, and watching chilling tales of people devoting their lives to saving a species, is one of my favourite things to watch on TV.
Cats were never a part of my life as my dad is allergic to them, but now I have two cats that are like my children. Every day when I arrive home, they are sitting on the wall waiting for me. They don’t wag their tails like a dog, but I can see in their little faces, they are so happy to see me.
I am sure everyone says this, but my cats Charlie and Shadow, are the cutest cats in the world. I would be lost without them.
They each have their own personalities and every day with them is an adventure. Shadow is quite moody and doesn’t like strangers, but she loves her ears being scratched. Charlie, on the other hand, is super loveable and enjoys attention from just about anyone.
