Northcliff High victorious after sports derby against Rand Park High

The home crowds were treated to a fantastic weekend of sport ending in a clean win for the first rugby team.

Northcliff High versus Rand Park High is a tough but exciting annual sporting fixture for the two schools.

This year’s derby was no different, with both schools giving everything they have to secure good results. Hockey, netball, and rugby were all played across different age groups for a fantastic sporting weekend.

After the matches, Northcliff High School’s Ian Wright said, “Well done to all our teams. Your efforts and constant improvement are definitely showing against the best out there.”

Possibly the most anticipated clash though was the first teams’ rugby match. War cries rang out across the fields as learners spurred their players on with gusto.

Northcliff scored two tries to lead 10–3 at halftime and the home team scored another five in the second half to give them an impressive 43–8 victory.

The tries were scored by Tshiamo Makobo, Luke Roos, Jordan Swanepoel, Pumi Bhebhe, Chad Matthews, Gerrit Muller, and Ziyaad Bhyat.
