Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns ladies celebrate their victories at Engen Champ of Champs

The 2024 Engen Champ of Champs saw Kaizer Chiefs shine as they faced Stellenbosch FC whilst in the woman division, Mamelodi Sundowns ladies battled it out to secure their spot as champions.

Kaizer Chiefs celebrated a triumphant return to form as they claimed their second trophy of the season at the 2024 Engen Champ of Champs. Chiefs defeated a determined Stellenbosch FC with a stunning goal from Neo Bohloko.

The match took place at Marks Park Stadium, where Chiefs showcased their skill and tenacity, regaining the coveted title they last held two years ago.

Amakhosi’s Neo Bohloko opened the scoring and sealed the win for his team.

The Engen Champ of Champs, which ran from September 27 to 29, saw Chiefs and Stellenbosch engage in a fierce battle for supremacy. The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams exchanging chances and displaying impressive possession.

However, it was Chiefs who found the breakthrough early in the second half, as Bohloko’s decisive strike secured the victory and added another trophy to the club’s illustrious cabinet.

Throughout the tournament, Chiefs demonstrated their resilience and determination, having navigated the group stages unscathed with two wins and two draws.

In contrast, Stellenbosch began the competition with an impressive record of four wins and four draws, but ultimately fell short against the Glamor Boys in the final.

The success was not limited to the men’s division, as Mamelodi Sundowns ladies also celebrated victory by lifting the Engen Champ of Champs trophy after a hard-fought 1–0 win against Durban Ladies FC.

This double triumph for the Gauteng province highlights the region’s strength in South African football. In addition to the tournament victories, several players received individual honours for their outstanding performances.

As the dust settles on the 2024 Engen Champ of Champs, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns ladies emerge as champions, showcasing the vibrant talent and competitive spirit that defines South African football. Both teams will now look to build on this success as they continue their respective seasons.
