Local teen faces hardships head on

Mickayla Narrine is determined to work hard and face her fears in order to build a happy and productive life.

Local learner Mickayla Narrine is not afraid to admit life can be hard and a bit overwhelming.

Here is what she had to say:

As a teenager, I face many challenges.

In school, I often feel overwhelmed by work and find myself constantly confused and annoyed at the people around me.

Teenagers are often stereotyped to be internet freaks and couch potatoes. We’re stereotyped to be self-involved, and we worry about the ‘real life’ on social media.

I often feel alone as my word is not heard.

I’m overwhelmed with work and by emotions that I can’t control.

I often seek reassurance from music which helps me understand my emotions, gives me security and increases my productivity.

Although I face many challenges in my life, I’ve learned to take it by the second and ignore the harsh world around me.

I have an image of what I would like my life to look like in a few years and I know it’s not going to come easy, but with hard work and determination, I know that I can conquer the world.

I know I can beat the emotions and overwhelming feelings that try to break me down.

Determination is the key to unlocking achievement especially in a world where it seems impossible.
