Local teen helps orphans

Her charitable efforts began as an act of giving but have now become a hobby to enjoy.

Trinity Mbele is in Grade 11 and Brandcliff House and has started a charity drive for children.

Here is what she had to say:

I took the initiative when I was 15 and have successfully continued to maintain it as a hobby.

I started my charity drive as a result of my belief in blessing others when you have been blessed. There are so many children who struggle with mental issues on a daily basis in orphanages. I wanted to offer help as a sister or friend would.

I believe that children need the same amount of moral and financial support.

Since I first started, I have visited four orphanages. This year I visited my fifth one on September 15, with the support of my school.

My wish is for the general public to recognise the importance of visiting orphans and how the little you give goes a long way for the children who receive it.

My motto is, ‘Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting’.
