Linden CPF finds imaginative ways to build relationships

Local fashionistas shared tips and tricks for getting springtime ready during an evening of enchantment.

Marinda Aucamp of Barefoot in Burgundy is a fashion stylist and motivational speaker.

“I formed my company 13 years ago as a way to give back to society. I believe in the sowing principle where it is important to sow seeds in life. You do not always need to see the fruits of your labour or the harvest but know there will be one.”

She says it was a privilege to be a part of the Linden CPF’s ladies’ event where she had an opportunity to give back and drive her purpose. “Giving is always more powerful than receiving so I was incredibly grateful to be a part of this initiative.”

Women from the community came to the station to get fashion tips for summer, enjoy some delicious snacks and meet their local police station members.

Linden Police Station communication officer Sergeant Takalani Sibiya said, “It is so important for us as police officers to know our community and to have relationships with them. Events like this are a good platform to do this.”

She says while police are there to enforce the law, nurturing relationships with residents is key to building a partnership. “Fighting crime successfully needs our community to walk with us. This helps us with tasks like finding suspects or giving us information for criminal investigations.

“We form these partnerships that also help build preventative measures to curb crime and criminal behaviour, which helps build our country and makes South Africa better.”

Chair of the Linden CPF Annelize Tichauer concurred, adding, “Having neighbours and community members who are linked to the station is key, not only for crime fighting but for harmony more broadly. Events like tonight assist in building bridges with people who might not otherwise have an opportunity that interests them to meet and engage with us.”
