I chose my career based on my passion for reading

Lee-Ann Candice Nkuna writes:

I’m currently a second-year student at the University of the Witwatersrand, where I’m studying teaching, majoring in English.

My passion for reading and writing has played a role in choosing the career I’m currently enrolled for, and it has only grown stronger as I’ve learned more about literature and its power to affect and inspire people.

English is my favourite subject, and I love exploring the many different styles and techniques that can be used in writing.

I enjoy reading as one of my hobbies. I’m passionate about reading. I love the way a good book can transport me to another place and time, and I enjoy the escapism it provides.

Reading also helps me relax when I am dealing with a lot and gives me a break from the stresses of everyday life.

Reading has opened my eyes to new ideas and perspectives, which has made me a more well-rounded and empathetic person. It’s also given me the motivation to express my own thoughts and ideas through writing.

I enjoy journaling and sometimes even dabbling in fiction writing during my free time. I find it therapeutic and fun to create my own worlds and characters.
