Grade RRs and Rs learn some fire safety tips

The school invited EMS to have a talk with the children on what safety measures they should follow in case of fire.

Emergency Management Services (EMS) recently spent some time talking to the children of Northwest Christian School on fire safety measures.

The talk was geared towards the school’s Grade RR and R learners as they are currently learning about fire safety and occupations.

According to Grade R teacher Sharon Eksteen, it was important for the children to have such a talk as it is important for them to learn what they need to do in case of a fire.

“The children loved the siren and they enjoyed the interactive talk,” she said.

She added that they went home not only knowing to call the number 112 in case of a fire, but to stop, drop and roll if their clothes caught fire, “They learnt what not to touch too.”
