Hoërskool Linden gets geeky for a week

This annual week made of fun saw the school launch its first rocket.

Hoërskool Linden recently hosted its traditional Geek Week.

Each year they make sure to make it memorable and this year’s was no different. They hosted learners for a week filled with Quidditch competitions during breaks, quiz night, cosplay, Rubik’s cube competitions and the year’s highlight – their own ‘rocket launch’ – making history at the school.

The rocket, which was named ‘Volhard’, which was designed by two Grade 11 learners, Siegfried Maré and Janus de Lange, flew over the rugby field and put on a spectacular show.

The learners had worked on the rocket for two years and put the rocket through several tests, working hard to have the perfect launch. The launch moment was special as the rocket worked best since they started testing it.

All the school had to say was NASA look out!
