Get to know: Adele van Zyl

We get to know spunky local, Adele van Zyl, as she speaks on what gives her that joie de vivre.

Meet Adele van Zyl

Of her many great attributes, it’s her spunk and ‘can-do’ attitude that is sure to bring a level of both ease and excitement to your day.

The local loves going on hiking trails and when she gets the chance, interacting with wildlife too. But, when she isn’t being one with nature you can find her on the dancefloor, setting the parquet flooring alight with her ballroom and sultry Latin dance moves.

Her talents don’t end there, though. She also loves designing and creating jewellery. ” After I watched a friend of mine make a necklace for me, I thought ‘I can do that’ and that’s when my love for crafting started. Now I make my own jewellery and I also do some woodwork from time to time.”

Adele reckons one of the most courageous things she has done so far was skydiving, “I have done it three times in my life; it was just awesome especially when you skydive after rainfall and in the sunset.”

She did say these were very cold experiences as you are about 10 000 feet [3 048m]in the air. Adele has also been shark-cage diving in open water. This experience had her lowered into a cage 20m into the ocean.

If you think she has experienced enough in life already – then you are simply mistaken. She still has many goals she plans to realise, like opening her own coffee shop, travelling to Andalusia, Spain, to witness bullfighting, and her biggest dream – to dance on the same floor as world-famous ballroom and Latin dancers have done.

In the meantime, because our country is rich in history, you probably spot her taking in the beauty of local historical buildings/sites with her husband and fur-baby* by her side.
