From top learner to Mr Opal Students 2023

Nelson started studying at the University of Johannesburg in 2021.

My name is Nelson Mphikeleli Nhlapo, a 20-year-old aspiring chartered accountant, born and raised in Free State Qwaqwa.
Though I grew up in QwaQwa, I spent most of my teenage years in Lindley where I completed not only my primary education but also high school.

I was privileged enough that even today I can say that I was the top learner of Thuto-Tsebo Primary School in 2015 and I went on to become the vice president of Lindley High School in 2020, my matric year.

I later enrolled at the University of Johannesburg where I am currently pursuing my final year diploma in accountancy. I am also the current holder of the Mr Opal Students 2023, which is a modelling contest.

I started modelling when I was in high school and I fell in love with it. Modelling has allowed me to express my creativity and showcase my unique style. It has opened doors to exciting opportunities and collaborations with renowned fashion designers. Additionally, being a model has given me the chance to travel and experience different cultures, further fueling my passion for exploration and new experiences.

I cannot wait to finish my diploma and pursue a career in both modelling and accounting. I also want to advise students to never give up on what they believe in and they should always stay true to themselves.
