Here are some guidelines for checking City Power workers’ identity cards

If there is any doubt about the identification of a worker, call the utility to confirm the legitimacy before giving them access to your property.

Community groups recently shared concerns about the identification card of a man claiming to be working for City Power.

The ID card he produced had an expired date on it which was the first clue for it not to be appropriate for use. An expired date, said spokesperson Isaac Mangena means, “The bearer is not fully authorised to work on the City Power network.”

The utility said it is aware of scams whereby people used fake cards to gain access to properties and houses for nefarious reasons.

City Power released the following checks when confirming if a worker was legitimate or not.
