Fairland CPF Youth Desk hopes new members will join them on their quest

The group, which forms an important part of the mother body CPF, focuses on activities and activations which appeal to and positively influence the youth.

Wayne Fitzgibbon heads up the Fairland CPF Youth Desk and shares his thoughts on why it is important for other young adults to become proactive citizens.

He writes:

Most school or university leavers express their greatest fear of not finding jobs after completing their education.

  • Drugs are the second greatest threat facing our youth.
  • Crime is a concern as an increasing number of people are resorting to some sort of criminal activity to survive.

With our government preoccupied with larger issues, it seems we have to find the solutions to resolve these dangers that threaten our future.

For starters, our education system needs an overhaul. Lowering the pass rate is not the solution and only places more unqualified and ill-equipped people in the job market.

We need an education system that inspires learners to think.

We need skills development that will enable people to work with their hands as well as their brains.

We need entrepreneurs with vision and expertise to invest in our future.

My appeal to all scholars, university students or other young adults is to join our Youth Desk and let us brainstorm the issues threatening our survival and find solutions that will make us independent, productive and successful leaders.
