Historic Documentary Film Society to screen Queen Elizabeth’s coronation film

The film which has been remastered will be shown at Military Museum followed by lavish tea.

Join the Historic Documentary Film Society for a special screening of A Queen is Crowned, a film that shows the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953.

Selwyn Klaas who runs the organisasion says, “June marks the 70th Anniversary of the historic crowning of Her late Majesty in 1953. Our tribute morning will honour her lifetime of service with the screening of A Queen is Crowned. The award-winning documentary has been gloriously restored”

“The event is intended to renew that special occasion for so many seniors in the community,” says Klaas.

The society hosts regular film screenings of older films and documentaries on a wide array of subjects and caters to all ages.
Recent screenings have included Diana, Queen of Hearts which looked at the life of Princess Diana, a compilation of Queen Elizabeth’s home videos in honour of her 90th birthday, a rescreening of a Barbara Streisand concert, and Fiddler on the Roof to name a few.

After the screening, guests are treated to a lavish tea supplied by a local small business where they can socialise and discuss what they saw.
