Opinions of locals on the announcement of Sign Language being made official in the country

People will now be learning sign language as it has been made an official language in the country.

Sign Language has been made an official South African language. Northcliff Melville Times took to the streets to ask the residents why they think it’s important that sign language has been recognised as an official language.

This is what they had to say:

Eric Gxabuza: It’s important so that everyone can learn and be able to talk to deaf people and this is going to make our lives and communication easier.
Nhlanhla Mahlangu: By acknowledging sign language as an official language, we can break down barriers and ensure that everyone has equal access to information and communication.
Ranoy Nkomo: Making sign language an official language is a step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society for all individuals.
