What life looks outside one’s boundaries

The local business owner's resilience and self-belief has lead to him building a life he can be proud of.

What does rebuilding your life look like?

If you are to take a page out of one of Ziggy Ravuku’s books to answer this question, then you would find its answer to be resilience, courage and adaptability.

The local business owner is known by many in Westdene as one of the forces behind a popular restaurant in the area – one that has aims not only to generate revenue, but to be of aid to the community too.

Nevertheless, who is the man found welcoming his customers with a smile? Well, his hobbies include running, cycling and some CrossFit for good measure. When he is not found breaking a sweat, you’ll probably find him working within the community he serves – such as many inviting smiles it too has also endured its hardships.
Ravuku faced the task of rebuilding his life after he left a permanent job, a time he highlights as being a transformative time that required immense courage, resilience, and adaptability. “The first challenge I encountered was navigating the uncertainty that comes with leaving a steady job. Stepping away from the familiar routine and financial security was undoubtedly daunting. However, I recognised that personal growth and fulfilment often lie beyond our comfort zones, prompting me to embark on this journey of reinvention.”

For Ravuku rebuilding his life meant reevaluating his goals, passions, and priorities. Along with that it also involved introspection, soul-searching, and taking stock of his skills and aspirations. “I had to explore new avenues and opportunities that aligned with my interests and values.”

It was a time that made him realise that the act of rebuilding one’s life is not a linear process. It was one that required patience, deep self-belief and the ability to embrace uncertainty. Hardships faced and conquered have helped him live a life that aligns closely with his true self.
