It’s official, Orban School has some eloquent Toastmasters.
The school’s Grade 7 class recently completed the official Toastmasters Leadership Communication Programme which now makes them certified toastmasters.
According to the school’s Loüine van der Vyver, the course was presented to the Grade 7s in the first term as part of their English curriculum and leadership training.
On the night of the proceedings, the entire class participated in a Toastmasters showcase event held at the school. The learners were either role players; timekeepers, evaluators, grammarians as well as ‘umm’ and ‘ah’ counters, while others were speakers who recited either prepared or unprepared speeches as well as be master of ceremonies.
Van der Vyver said at the event audiences were left astounded by the level of oral skill and confidence displayed.
