How to claim from City Power

If you feel you have suffered a loss because of City Power, it is possible to lodge a claim, but there is no guarantee

If you have suffered a financial loss such as spoilt food as a result of load-shedding, you can lay a claim against the city.

Ward 88 councillor Nicolene Jonker said, “You can make a claim like you would an insurance claim if your property is damaged. The city has public liability insurance but each case is taken on its own merit.”

Apart from filling in the claim form, you will need to also submit the following documents.

  • Latest municipal rates statement
  • ID copy
  • Repair quotations (for damaged appliances and equipment) an
  • Photos (if claiming for spoiled food). If claiming for food, please indicate the amount claimed.

The claim form can be found by going to the City Power website (www.citypower.co.za) and click on the Customers drop-down menu.

There you will find an option for Claim Forms. Click on that to download the document.

After filling it in, scan that with the required documents above and send it all to:
