Tyrah lets us in on her dreams

We get know one local resident whose dreams include changing the lives of children through education.

A thriving community includes people eager to be the change they want to see in society.

Tyrah Moyo’s hobbies include strolls in her neighbourhood of Risidale, exercise and spending quality time with those closest to her. She is also a woman who has aspirations of one day changing the lives of children through education.

Like anyone who has big dreams, Moyo has had to prove her resilience to herself. “I have had to overcome my resistance in instances where I stand in the way of achieving my own goals.”

She hopes to one day create a mini bursary scheme that will impact the lives of children from her former high school in Durban. This is to aid top-achieving learners to further their studies and realise their ambitions.
Her other aspirations are to pursue a career in traditional and naturopathic healthcare and start a non-profit that will feed the hungry.

For Moyo, dreaming big is not an aspect she finds daunting though she did share that one of the courageous things she had done was to get married.

“It has been my biggest blessing and challenge. I am the first to get married among my sisters, cousins, relatives and friends.” But if the saying ‘a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ is anything to go by, then a secret talent of hers will make help make this courageous leap easier, “I’m an undeniably amazing chef and baker. I have the deepest passion for exploring cuisine.”

Another talent of hers is that she is a gifted artist. Moyo draws portraits and murals with pop art being her favourite.

She enjoys shopping at shops, bakeries and butchers in her community because she loves to support the local businesses.

Moyo wants to be a shining light to those around her. “I would like to be a figure that is known for helping and feeding the less fortunate sustainably to ensure that no member of our community is left behind.”
