Meet Daniel Jafet:
I was born and raised in Auckland Park and both my parents are from Mozambique.
I lost my mom when I was 15 years old. My community is one of the best because they supported me through the hardships that I went through.
My love for fashion started when I was in high school. I discovered that I have my way of dressing. I believe that fashion saved me from ending up on the streets and doing crime because I’m always busy brainstorming different kinds of outfits.
I met friends in high school who were into fashion like me. I started joining community groups where we were trading clothes. We would swap things like furniture in exchange for clothes.
I have worked for a stylist named Tranzeyn, and every time I brought up a fashion idea of how I wanted him to style my clothes, he would do exactly that and even exceed my expectations. Then I started to do fashion and modelling professionally.
My friend and I get booked from time to time to style other artists. Fashion runs in my blood. To be honest, I breathe and eat fashion.
Most people don`t understand my style and the way I dress, as some think it`s not normal. I understand the concept of other people not understanding my fashion sense but some relate to my fashion style because I tell stories through fashion.
I want to inspire young people to wear anything they like. One thing that will make my heart skip a beat is seeing myself on billboards in the coming years.
